Jacklyn Jose and Joem Bascon deserve Best Supporting Awards

I just watched Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo and Habang May Buhay. I believe that one of the reasons that Kapamilya soaps are the most watched by Filipinos are the actors and actresses playing the roles.

I am not really a big fan of Jacklyn Jose though I know that she is a very great actress. But as I watch Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo every night, I am becoming more and more fascinated by the character of Astrud. Jacklyn is perfect for that mother who would do anything for his son and to win the love of the only man she loved.

I love her when she becomes sarcastic in front of Celine (Kris Aquino) or Mama Pet (Gina Pareño) just like in tonight's episode. While Mama Pet is packing her stuffs to go back to Celine and Frank's (Albert Martinez) house, Astrud's sarcastic questions and remarks hinted that she already knows the fact that Gwen (Kim Chui) is not Frank's daughter.

But one scene that I cannot forget is in one of the episodes this week. I'm just not sure the exact day it aired. It's a very simple scene where Astrud and Frank were drinking until they were drunk. Frank has to leave but Astrud insists on another bottle. I was thinking that they were really drunk when they taped the scene because they were so good at it, especially Jacklyn.

And now for my Best Supporting Actor bet, Joem Bascon.

It wasn't long since Joem entered showbiz but we could see that he is really an actor. During his first appearances on TV, he was known to be Piolo's look alike. But now, he's a name of his own.

Apart from being handsome and having great body, Joem can really act and he acts well. Tonight's episode shows the aftermath of the marriage between Jane (Judy Ann Santos) and David (Derek Ramsay). Joem's acting moment was a scene where he drinks with his father Dr. Manuel Corpuz (John Arcilla) while expressing his frustration, bitterness, and jealousy for David.

Scenes like these shows the versatility of Joem, the mark of a great actor. We have seen him do some action scenes and funny scenes (in Betty la Fea) and he can do them effortlessly.

Bravo for these two Kapamilyas!
